Intermodal Europe 2014 session to focus on ocean freight data

Ocean freight data and accurate analytics will be discussed during a conference session at Intermodal Europe 2014, which takes place from 11-13 November at the Rotterdam Ahoy, the UK-based Molokini Marketing reported.

As part of the IT Innovation and Technology Forum, Thomas Sørbø, COO and Co-Founder of Xeneta, will present a technology conference session titled ‘Gaining accurate ocean freight analytics’, which will look at the analysis of ocean freight data and demonstrate how users can benchmark their ocean freight rates across different trade lanes.

A spokesperson from Alcoa Inc, one of the world's largest producers of aluminium and a Xeneta customer, will present alongside Thomas Sørbø.

“I will talk about the importance of transparency in the ocean freight market and give an overview of the services we offer,” explains Thomas Sørbø, adding that the speaker from Alcoa will talk about how the company uses the market intelligence and the benefits they receive from it.

Xeneta delivers objective insight into more than 20,000 port-to-port pairs – growing daily as new companies enter the platform. Through big data-collection and analytics, its online platform helps to improve strategic and tactical decisions.

Headquartered in Oslo, Norway, Xeneta was founded in 2012 by logistics and transportation professionals with a shared vision of leveraging SaaS (Software as a Service) technologies to optimise supply chain procurement processes.

“I expect the conference attendees will include importers, exporters, freight forwarders and shipping lines” says Thomas Sørbø. “This type of event is very important to us, not only for networking opportunities, but it also enables us to show companies what we do and helps to position Xeneta as the industry leader in on-demand ocean-freight market intelligence and benchmarking analysis.”

Intermodal Europe is widely considered one of the most important events in the container shipping calendar and Rotterdam is home to Europe’s largest container port and an ideal location to hold the exhibition.

Intermodal Europe is the world-leading exhibition and conference for companies associated with the container and intermodal industries and covers all areas of container transport and logistics across road, rail and sea. The event provides an invaluable industry forum, bringing together high-quality speakers and key exhibitors. Organised by Informa Exhibitions, Intermodal Europe is now in its 38th year. Established in 1976 as the Container Technology Conference (CTC) Intermodal Europe has developed and matured alongside the industry it serves.
