Throughput of Odessa Commercial Sea Port (Ukraine) up 12.1% to 17.6 mln t in Jan-Sep’14

In January-September 2014, Odessa Commercial Sea Port handled 17.6 mln t of cargo (+12.1%, year-on-year), press center of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority says. In September, the port handled 2 mln t of cargo (+10.9%).

Transshipment of dry cargo climbed by 23.9% to 1.8 mln t including 606,000 t of grain (+55.5%), 393,100 t of ferrous metal (up 2.8 times) and 1.192 thou t of ore (+71%).

In September, transshipment of containers fell by 11.5 thou TEUs. Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo fell by 148.6 thou t, the statement says. However, oil product transshipment in January-September exceeds the result of January-September 2013 by 451,000 t.

Odessa Commercial Sea Port operates in one of the largest ports of the Black-Azov Sea Basin. Technical facilities of the port allow handling of more than 14 million tonnes of dry cargoes and 24 million tonnes of liquid cargoes annually. The port’s passenger terminal accepts vessels of up to 300 meters in length. In 2013, throughput of Odessa Commercial Sea Port fell by 5.3%, year-on-year, to 23.1 mln tonnes.
