Throughput of Ukrainian seaports up 6.5% to 103.185 mln t in Jan-Sep’14

In January-September 2014, seaports of Ukraine handled 103,185,000 t of cargo (+6.5%, year-on-year), says press center of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.

In September, cargo handling totaled 11,959,000 t (+0.9%, year-on-year). The increase was registered in the following ports: Berdyansk (+94.6%), Belgorod-Dnestrovsky (+40%), Illichivsk (+2.3%), Nikoilayev (+5.9%), Odessa (+10.9%), Oktyabrsk and Yuzhny (+12.4%).

The growth in September was driven mainly by grain – 3,536,000 t (+53.3%, year-on-year) and ore cargo – 3,233,000 (+27.9%)

Container handling in September amounted to 56,967 TEUs (80.8% of 2013 result).
