Berths No 1 and No 2 of specialized marine oil port Kozmino have been equipped with telescopic boarding bridges, Kozmino press center says. Unlike stationary boarding bridges the telescopic ones feature maneuverability and ensure safer, faster and more comfortable boarding/de-boarding of people.
Major specific feature of the telescopic bridges is the ability to change the position as the tanker is being loaded and the vessel’s draught is increasing. An operator can adjust the hydraulic system of the facility.
The decision to equip the berths of Spetsmornefteport Kozmino with telescopic boarding bridges was, in particular, driven by their safety features. Their characteristics meet international standards. They can be detached from vessels within a couple of minutes in case of emergency which contributes to minimization of risks related to oil transshipment.
Primorsky Territory, Russia based dedicated marine oil port (Spetsmornefteport) Kozmino LLC), a subsidiary of Transneft JSC, was launched in late 2009. Kozmino Oil Terminal is the terminus of the ESPO Oil Pipeline (Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean). The port was built for transshipment to oil tankers of crude oil supplied to the terminal through the main pipeline ESPO-2 and via the Far Eastern Railway. Upon completion of the ESPO terminal Phase 3 expansion project Kozmino capacity has reached 30 million tonnes a year.
