Port of Ilyichevsk (Ukraine) accepts first batch of 84,200 t of coal from SAR

The port of Ilyichevsk (Ukraine) has accepted the first batch of 84,200 t of power plant coal of grades ‘A’ and ‘T’ from the SAR, says press center of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority. The Scotian Express loaded with coal moored at the port on October 23.  

Unloading is to take 5–6 days. The coal will be then transported Ukrainian thermal power plants by railway. The port of Ilyichevsk is to accept 2 of 3 vessels loaded with SAR coal. The second batch (83,200 t) is to be delivered to Ilyichevsk by Bottiglieru Сhelenger in early November.

Due to military operations in Donbass coal production in August decreased by a half against the same period in 2013 and Ukrainian Government decided to import coal from the SAR.  An agreement on supply of 1 mln t of coal was signed by Ukrinterenergo and Steel Mont Trading Ltd.
