Transas Group and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd (DSME) have signed a contract for fitting 9 LNG tankers being built to the order of Canadian and Asian ship owners for OJSC Yamal LNG with navigation and communications equipment, press center of Transas says.
Under the contract signed between the S. Korean shipyard and Russian developer and supplier of comprehensive solutions for shipping and navigation, 9 tankers will be fitted with the complex of GMDSS equipment and integrated navigation system comprising 12 MFDs. The contract also provides for supply of radar devices, FOGs, Doppler indicators, echo sounders and other radio aids to navigation.
Three hulls were ordered by MOL (Japan) and China Shipping Development (China). 6 vessels are being built to the order of Teekay LNG Partners (Canada) in partnership with China LNG Shipping (Holdings) Limited. The supply of equipment will commence in 2016 and will last till July 2018.
The deck equipment is being developed and will be tested with the temperature of -52°С under the supervision of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) and French classification society Bureau Veritas.
