Coal exports via Rosterminalugol terminal hit 14m-tonne milestone
Shipments of export coal from the Ust-Luga-based Rosterminalugol terminal have totaled 14 million tonnes year-to-date, the terminal operator said in a press release.
The 14 millionth tonne was loaded on November 26 onto dry bulk carrier Zagreb. A year ago, the same volume of export coal was handled at the terminal on December 6.
JSC Rosterminalugol was established in 1996 to build and operate the coal terminal at Port of Ust-Luga. The terminal’s projected annual coal throughput is 8 million tons. The Company specializes in loading / unloading operations, freight forwarding services, building and maintenance of facilities at the coal terminal. The company also provides insurance services for cargoes and property, the risks of transactions at Ust-Luga port. The terminal has two berths of total length of 540 meters with depth of 14 meters. The terminal is able now to accommodate vessels of up to 240 m in length and 32 m in breadth. In 2013, coal exports via the terminal rose 6.9% year-over-year to 14.72 million tonnes.
