Passenger flow via port Saint-Petersburg is expected to grow by 3%, year-on-year, to 498,000 tourists in 2015, IAA PortNews, head of JSC Passenger Port of St. Petersburg "Marine Façade" Serik Zhusupov told journalists.
Among major trends of 2015 he noted the increase of vessels’ capacity as new cruise ships join the fleet. Next year the port will welcome 9 new liners including 330-meter long Regal Princess and Britannia of Carnival Corporation.
Besides, new cruise ship Mein Schiff 4 of TUI Cruises is going to call at Passenger Port of St. Petersburg on June 9, 2015, just 4 days after she is floated out.
New liner Viking Star of Viking Cruises will also appear in Saint-Petersburg within the framework of a Baltic Sea and North Sea cruise about a month after the launching ceremony.
With the calls of state-of-the-art cruise ships of higher capacity Saint-Petersburg is to see passenger flow increase within the coming years.
In navigation 2014, Passenger Port of St. Petersburg accepted 234 cruise ships and five ferries which carried 483,456 passengers (-2-3%, year-on-year).
JSC Passenger Port of St. Petersburg "Marine Façade" is in the ownership of the city of St. Petersburg and is the largest passenger seaport in Russia. Construction of Marine Façade began in 2006. The port can accommodate cruise and ferry ships of up to 311 m long and with a draft of up to 8.8 m. The length and depth of new access channels - 10 km and 11 m, accordingly. The port operates seven piers. The quay wall length – 2,171.06 m.
