Cargo throughput at the terminals of JSC Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port (KSCP) in January-November 2014 shrank by 16.8% year-on-year to 3.172 million tonnes, the stevedoring company said.
The decline was attributed to a 23% drop in ferrous metals volumes to 940,600 tonnes and a 4.6 times slump in oil product shipments (56,900 tonnes). At the same time handling of coal and coke increased by 7.7% to 278,400 tonnes and scrap metal increased by 10.5% to 126,500 tonnes. Container traffic at the operator's terminal fell by 7% to 134,472 TEUs.
JSC Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port is the largest port operator in Kaliningrad region. The port is a gateway for intermodal traffic and major exports / imports flows passing through the region. In 2013, cargo throughput at the terminals of KSCP totaled 4,068,000 tonnes.
