Shipping companies of Odessa region (Ukraine) delivered 6 million tons of cargo in January-November 2006 (-9.5% against year-on-year result), Ukraine’s state regional administration reports according to RBC-Ukraine. Transportation decrease in foreign trade was at the level of 14.2%. At the same time, the ports handled 14.052 thou vessels including 9.282 thou vessels of foreign shipowners and charterers (+0.5% and +6.7% against year-on-year result). The largest shipping companies of Odessa region including Ukraine Danube Shipping Company OJSC and Ukrferry increased cargo transportation by 3.6% to 7.3 million tons in 2005. They cover over 80% of all sea transportation by Ukraine’s shipping companies.
