Throughput of port Novorossiysk up 8% to 121.59 mln t in 2014

In January-December 2014, the port of Novorossiysk handled 121.59 mln t of cargo (+8%, year-on-year). As IAA PortNews was informed by the Azov - Black Sea Basin authorities, transshipment of general cargo increased by 8.5% to 18.02 mln t, liquid bulk cargo – by 2.1% to 86.2 mln t, dry bulk cargo – by 6.3% to 5.28 mln t, timber – by 41.1% to 635,400 t, loose cargo – by 85.9% to 11.46 mln t.

The decrease was registered in transshipment of packaged cargo – by 53.1%; chemical and mineral fertilizers – by 25.3%; ore – by 18.1%; non-ferrous metal – by 0.5%. Transshipment of grain increased by 92.4%; sugar – by 43.4%; timber – by 41.1%; ro-ro cargo – by 38%; liquid food – by 37.6%; containers – by 10.8%; ferrous metal – by 6.9%; liquid chemical cargo – 1.9%.

The majority non-ferrous metals is delivered to Turkey (647,452 t); ferrous metal – to Turkey (2,021,515 t); timber – to Egypt (420,769 t); grain – Egypt (2,288,491 t); non-dangerous dry bulk cargo – to the USA (919,897 t); chemically hazardous cargo – Turkey (999,361 t); liquid bulk cargo – Italy (43,696,829 t); containerized cargo – Turkey (1,083,800 t).

The number of calls increased by 9.8% to 5,780 calls.

In 2013, the port of Novorossiysk handled 112.5 mln t of cargo.
