In January-December 2014, Multipurpose Transshipment Complex LLC (MTC, Ust-Luga) handled 4 mln t of cargo (+15%, year-on-year), press center of the stevedoring company says.
The terminal’s throughput growth should be attributed to increased handling of thermal coal driven by high demand in Europe, the statement says.
To meet the challenges of the growing cargo turnover the Company has commenced the implementation of the technical upgrading programme and purchased two MANTSINEN 120R cranes and two KOMATSU WA420-3 loaders.
Average daily unloading increased by 16%, year-on-year, to 157 open-top wagons, maximum unloading - 276 open-top wagons. In total, the Company unloaded 57,225 open-top wagons with coal and handled 103 cargo vessels.
Multipurpose Transshipment Complex LLC (part of UCL Port –stevedoring division of the international transportation group UCL Holding) is a cargo terminal at port Ust-Luga (Leningrad region) specializing in accepting and storing as well as export/import shipment of general and dry bulk cargo. In 2013, MTC LLC handled 3.5 mln t of cargo (18%, year-on-year).
