To develop water transport of Saint-Petersburg and to improve the efficiency of municipal property use, the Transport Committee of the city has developed a project “Urban Berths of Saint-Petersburg”, the Committee told IAA PortNews.

The project implies the creation of a network of urban berths and leasing out of them to legal and natural entities. The project implementation will facilitate the development of water transport in Saint-Petersburg through providing the carriers with additional berths in the central part of the city…”, Aleksei Lvov, Deputy Chairman of the Transport Committee says.

The berths will be leased out on a paid basis under the contracts signed with the operator, St. Petersburg State Institution “External Transport Agency” subordinate to the Transport Committee.

The pilot run of the project took place in August –October 2014. 12 agreements with legal and natural entities were signed for the use of 4 berths at Admiralteiskaya, Dvortsovaya and Arsenalnaya embankments. 387 mooring operations were performed over the period.
