Freight rates of Kerch ferry service to be decreased, head of Crimea says

The decrease of Kerch ferry service’s freight rates will funded with internal reserves, press center of the Crimean Government cites Sergei Aksyonov, Head of Crimea.

“The first task is to reduce the rates for trucks transportation. RUB 19,000 is unacceptable. This used to be an amount for transportation from Novorossiysk to Feodosiya which takes 8 hours while it takes only 17 minutes here,” Prime Minister of Crimea said. 

According to him, economic parameters are being estimated now. “In the worst case scenario, if there are no internal reserves, we will help with the state budget resources”,   Sergei Aksyonov added.

In January 2015, the responsibility for functioning of Kerch ferry service has been handed over from the United Transport Directorate to Crimean Ministry of Transport.
