Throughput of Klaipeda seaport (Lithuania) up 9% to 5.9 mln t in Jan-Feb’15

In January-February 2015, the port of Klaipeda (Lithuania) handled 5.96 mln t of cargo (+9%, year-on-year), press center of the port authority says. February throughput climbed by 2.9% to 2.95 mln t.

Transshipment of fertilizers climbed by 27.9% to 1,090,400, oil products – by 36.3% to 599,200 t, containers – down 10.7% to 394,100, ro-ro cargo – by 3.6% to 336,100 t.

Klaipeda State Seaport is the northernmost ice–free port on the Eastern coast of the Baltic Sea. It is the most important and biggest Lithuanian transport hub, connecting sea, land and railway routes from East to West. The port’s throughput (including Butinge terminal) made 33.42 mln t in 2013.
