The Norwegian Sea-Cargo Hub in Rotterdam has been officially opened by Rik Pek, General Manager Broekman Logistics, and Ole Saevild, CEO Sea-Cargo. The new Sea-Cargo Hub enables Broekman Logistics to provide the best-possible connections for serving the Scandinavian market.
The expansion of the Broekman Logistics terminal at Theemsweg in the port of Rotterdam was initiated at the start of 2015. The terminal was expanded by 50,000m2 for the distribution of goods to and from western Scandinavia. The alliance with Sea-Cargo means that Broekman Logistics now has a regular service to Norway. Sea-Cargo will initially use the terminal twice a week in both directions.
The Sea-Cargo vessels will be loaded and unloaded via the bow door and this required the addition of a roll-on roll-off ramp to the terminal. The roll-on roll-off ramp was constructed for the transshipment of non-ferrous metals, offshore, steel and forest products. These are the main imports and exports for Scandinavia. There has also been investment in improving the terminal’s infrastructure. The roll-on roll-off ramp and other adjustments mean a capacity increase of 25 percent.
