Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Ukraine) welcomes large capacity tankers Melati 5 and Maersk Barry (photo)
Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk has accepted two large capacity tankers, press center of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority says.
31,975 DWT Melati 5 moored at berths No 14–15 on May 26. The 178 meter long tanker is to be loaded with 30,000 t of vegetable oil. The port is also handling the 29,040 DWT Maersk Barry. The 176 meter long vessel will accept 27,500 t of vegetable oil.
“Dredging operations planned for this year will support the trend of handling large capacity vessels which is to contribute to further development of port business”, said Gennady Skvortsov, head of the port authority.
SE Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk is a multipurpose international port, one of the largest ports in the Black Sea. The company operates specialized terminals and complexes capable of handling a wide range of cargoes – liquid bulk cargo, dry bulk cargo, general cargo. The port’s 29 berths can accommodate vessels of up to 100,000 tonnes in deadweight. Designed annual capacity of SCPI exceeds 30 mln tonnes. The port’s container capacity is 1.15 mln TEUs. The port can simultaneously handle 3 ocean-going 300-m long container carriers of over 5,000 TEUs in capacity.
