A memorandum of intent to develop port infrastructure of Ukraine will be signed by The Soufflet Group (one of the key players in the grain market, Fance) at the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure on June 19, 2015. According to the Ministry’s press center, the company is going to invest in the development of SE Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Odessa) and to implement an infrastructure project at the port territory within several years.
In May-June 2015, the Ministry of Infrastructure held working meetings with the representatives of Soufflet Group in order to find the most interesting companies for infrastructure projects. The Ministry had arranged a number of visits to the seaports of Ukraine so that the potential investor could study the country’s port infrastructure and define the priority facilities for investments, the statement says.
SE Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk is a multipurpose international port, one of the largest ports in the Black Sea. The company operates specialized terminals and complexes capable of handling a wide range of cargoes – liquid bulk cargo, dry bulk cargo, general cargo. The port’s 29 berths can accommodate vessels of up to 100,000 tonnes in deadweight. Designed annual capacity of SCPI exceeds 30 mln tonnes. The port’s container capacity is 1.15 mln TEUs. The port can simultaneously handle 3 ocean-going 300-m long container carriers of over 5,000 TEUs in capacity.
