Sailing ship Kruzenshtern arrives in Kaliningrad region for repairs (photo)
Barque and tall ship Kruzenshtern on July 12, 2015 moored at Svetly, Kaliningrad Oblast to undergo repair of minor damages suffered in a collision with two Iceland Coast Guard vessels in the port of Reykjavik, the ship owner Kaliningrad State Technical University said.
Ship Repair-Zapad LLC will perform works to repair the damaged bowsprit of STS Kruzenshtern. The owner said as the damages were minor the barque does not need regular overhaul at a shipyard.
The second largest sailing ship in the world Kruzenshtern on June 11, 2015 collided with two Iceland Coast Guard vessels at the port of Reykjavik, while heading out of Reykjavik’s harbor. As a result one of the CG vessels, Thor sustained a hole in her deck and was put out of commission. The other boat’s signal mast suffered minor damage.
