Salvage of stranded MV Captain Muromtsev on the Kukhtui river fails
MV Captain Muromtsev, which ran aground in the estuary of the Kukhtui river, Sea of Okhotsk coastline, near the village of Okhotsk in Khabarovsk Territory remained stranded as of 08:00 July 21, 2015. According to a report (available at IAA PortNews) from the State Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, Russia's Transport Ministry, a salvage operation carried out with the use of average freezer trawler (SRTM) "Alexander Shalin," did not give any positive results.
Currently the shipowner shall take measures to remove the stranded vessel from the shoal.
M/V Captain Muromtsev (owner LLC Mag-Sea Transit) ran aground after she passed the mouth of the Kukhtui, after the vessel's steering failure. The ship was thrown on the ground (fine gravel, sand) of Okhotsk spit. There were no injuries or spill reported.
