Viking Line carried record number of passengers in July
In July, Viking Line’s passenger volume reached a record high of 945,343, or 20,519 more than the figure achieved in July 2014. The number of cars transported grew by 6 per cent to 116,417, the cruise operator said in a news release.
On the Turku (Finland) – Åland Islands (Finland) – Stockholm Sweden) route, the Viking Grace transported 281,254 passengers or 9,681 more than the year-earlier period. The Viking Cinderella, which serves the Stockholm – Mariehamn (Åland) route, also showed increased passenger figures. A
total of 111,361 people travelled on the Cinderella, or 12,332 more than during July 2014.
On other routes, traffic was stable, with somewhat fewer passengers (-1.1 per cent) on the Helsinki (Finland) – Stockholm route but with passenger numbers comparable to one year earlier on the Mariehamn – Kapellskär (Sweden) and Helsinki – Tallinn (Estonia) routes.
“We are very satisfied with the trend of passenger numbers in July and are pleased that so many people are choosing to travel on our vessels. The price competition on certain routes this summer has been fierce, which has benefited customers,” says Jan Hanses, President and CEO of Viking Line.
