Throughput of port Helsinki (Finland) up 5% to 6.62 mln t in 7M’15
In January-July 2014, the port of Helsinki (Finland) handled 6.62 mln t of cargo (+5%, year-on-year), the port authority says. According to the statement, transshipment of packaged cargo increased by 3% to 6.07 mln t, dry bulk cargo – up 34% to 538,000t.
In April, the port handled 1 mln t of cargo (+9%) including 390,000 t of imports (+4%) and almost 470,000 t of exports (+5%). Over the month the port serviced 840,000 passengers (-1%, year-on-year), over the 4-months period – 3 mln passengers (at the level of the previous year).
The port’s container throughput increased by 6% to 252,000 586 TEUs, Ro-Ro cargo – up 2% to 294,936 TEUs. Traffic of line passengers – up 2% to 6.55 mln people, cruise passengers – up 4% to 280,000 people.
Number of calls – up 5% to 4,844 vessels.
The Port of Helsinki is one of the largest ports in Finland, the largest passenger port and the third largest in the Baltic Sea. In 2014, the port handled 10.8 mln t of cargo (+3%, year-on-year).
