The Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa has commissioned EUROGATE Container Terminal Bremerhaven to tranship six 2-megawatt onshore wind turbines. The tower sections, nacelles and hubs have been delivered from Aviles in Spain to the Bremerhaven terminal with the Sloman Provider on 18 August; the rotor blades will follow with the Vectis Eagle from Tianjin, China, in early September. The oversized wind turbine components will initially be stored at the terminal, before being transported on by HGVs to Horst near Schneverdingen (Lower Saxony).
Wolfgang Schiemann, Managing Director of EUROGATE Container Terminal Bremerhaven: “We are delighted about the new business. Our team has plenty of experience in the professional handling of such sensitive components. It’s a job that requires specialised know-how. By virtue of its surface area and geographic location, our site meets all the prerequisites for handling oversized wind turbine components and our staff have the necessary experience and qualifications. This is much appreciated by turbine manufacturers.”
