Russia’s large autonomous freezer trawler Dalny Vostok sunk in April 2015 has been found by the multipurpose engineering survey vessel Kendrick at the depth of about 250 meters in the Sea of Okhotsk. The search and inspection operation was performed within the framework of the search expedition arranged by the engineering company Fertoing Ltd. upon the request of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Fertoing says.
The survey vessel is currently busy with hydrographic surveying at the site, says the company.
ROV Tiger will then be launched to examine the trawler and to make photos and videorecording for the Committee representatives.
Upon completion of this work, the ROV will be used to fix a commemorative plaque with the names of the lost seafarers.
The multipurpose engineering survey vessel Kendrick is equipped with state-of-the-art ultibeam echosounder system, high precision acoustic positioning and underwater navigation system, multi-purpose ROV.
In 2012 the Company was involved in similar operation. Upon the request of RF Investigative Committee it performed subsea works in the Sea of Okhotsk on search and survey of the sunken drilling platform Kolskaya at the depth of more than 1,070m.
