Throughput of Saint-Petersburg port down 15% to 30.36 mln t in 7M’15
In January-July 2015, the port of Saint-Petersburg handled 30,361,300 t of cargo (-15%, year-on-year), say Baltic Sea Ports Administration.
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 4,964,800 t (+3%, year-on-year) including 4,473,300 t of mineral fertilizers (+4%).
Transshipment of general cargo fell by 8% to 7,138,300 including 2,948,100 t of ferrous metal (+6%).
The port’s container throughput totaled 999,456 TEUs, or 11,635,700 t (-17%).
In the reported period, the port handled 5,745,500 t of liquid bulk cargo (-18%) including 5,715,800 t of oil products (-18%).
Transshipment of cargoes carried by ferries dropped by 38% to 200,000 t. Transshipment of loose dry cargo fell by 36% to 63,500 t, timber – up 1.5 t 246,000 t.
Big Port St. Petersburg is the largest port in the North-West region of Russia. It is located in the Neva Bay of the Gulf of Finland. Most of the port’s facilities are located in the mouth of the Neva river. There are also other districts - near Bronka railway station at the town of Lomonosov and in the harbour of Litke base at Kotlin island.
