General Contractor on port Sabetta development fined for nonpayment of pollution charges

Regional department of Russia's environmental watchdog Rosprirodnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision of Nature Resources) has established the fact of failure to execute scheduled payment for negative impact on the environment by USK MOST OJSC, General Contractor on development of seaport facilities near Sabetta settlement. According to the press center of Rosprirodnadzor’s Department for the Urals Federal District, USK MOST was therefore fined under Article 8.41 of Administrative Offences Code of the Russian Federation (on September 10, 2015).

The negative impact thereof was the muddiness and chemical pollution of the water body, the statement says.

“Taking into consideration the scope of dredging works carried out by USK MOST in 2014 (over 20,000,000 cbm of material), Rosprirodnadzor will continue calculating and recovering of payment for negative impact on the environment under RF legislation,” the statement says.

Port Sabetta is being built under Yamal LNG project for shipments of export LNG. The Yamal LNG project envisages the launch of three LNG trains with a total expected capacity of 16.5 million metric tons of LNG per year. They are to be launched in 2017, 2018 and 2019 accordingly.
