In January-October, 2015, cargo transportation within the Unified Deepwater System of Russia’s European part declined by 1.2%, year-on-year, to 82.3 mln t. Transportation of foreign trade cargo fell by 5.8%, says Rosmorrechflot (Federal Marine and River Transport Agency).
The decline was caused by limited water resources in some water storage basins and low level of water at certain parts of inland water ways of Russia.
Other parts of inland water ways saw the fall of 8.2% to 29 mln t. Total transportation of cargo amounted to 111.3 mln t.
The amount of cargo delivered to the Far North regions totaled 16.8 mln t.
Passenger turnover increased by 6.6% to 13 mln persons including 7.9 passengers carried within the European part of Russia and 5.1 mln passengers carried in Siberia and Far East.
In the 10-month period, river ports handled 130.5 mln t of cargo (-3%, year-on-year).
