Service for Marine and River Transport arrived in port Astrakhan on November 17, says the press center of Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot). The voyage along 2,207 km of inland water ways took 20 days. When fitted with navigational equipment, the ship will be delivered to the customer.
The permit for Bakhtiyar to pass inland water ways of the Russian Federation from Saint-Petersburg to Astrakhan was obtained in compliance with the order of RF Government in 2015.
The vessel’s characteristics: length – 155.8 m, width – 17.5 m, draught – 3.4 m. Special measures were undertaken for the ship to pass the Nizhny Novgorod hydrosystem amid the low water level.
Bakhtiyar is the second ship within the order. The first one, Berkarar, passed the inland water ways of Russia last year.
RO-PAX class Bakhtiyaris intended for transportation of passengers, trucks and other vehicle will provide regular passenger and freight transportation service between Baku (Azerbaijan), Olya (Russia), Enzeli and Amirabad (Iran). This will expand the geography and the range of cargoes carried between the Caspian countries.
