Ports of Nakhodka accounted for 50.8% of Far East Basin’s throughput in 10M’15

The share of Nakhodka ports in total cargo throughput of the Far East Basin made 50.8% in January-October 2015. As Boris Gladkikh, first deputy to the head of Nakhodka authority, said at the meeting held on November 23, Nakhodka handled 32.5% of coal and 12% of containerized cargo transshipped via Russian ports. 15% of crude oil was exported via port Kozmino.

The meeting on implementation of the Law on Free Port of Vladivostok headed by Aleksandr Galushka, Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East, gathered the management of the largest stevedoring companies of Nakhodka and the Primorsky Territory. They presented the projects on construction of new port facilities and on modernization of the existing ones.

According to Boris Gladkikh, transport and logistics are among the basic businesses in the economics of the Nakhodka district. The ports of Nakhodka handle the majority of cargoes exported via the eastern borders of Russia. Fuel and energy makes the bulk of this flow. In the 10 months period, Vostochny and Nakhodka ports handled almost 72 mln t of cargo.

Such investors as Rosneft and Transneft has been working in Nakhodka for a long period of time. National Chemical Group has announced its plans on construction of a gas chemical facility in the district. There is a plan to build a multi-purpose production and handing facility at Vostochny Port able to export 20 mln t of coal. To expand its capacity, Vostochny Port OJSC is implementing a large scale project on construction of Phase III of the coal terminal. With the development of terminal facilities of Vostochny and Nakhodka ports, their throughput can be boosted to 140 mln t by 2020.
