The Port of Gdansk, Poland in 2015 handled 35,91 million tonnes which represents a 11.3% growth year-on-year, the Port Authority reported.
The volume of oil cargo handled at the port grew by 17.8% year-on-year to 14.7 million tonnes. Shipments of general cargo increased by 5.2% to 11.8 million tonnes. Coal volumes jumped by 35% to 4.49 million tonnes. Other dry bulk cargo decreased by 4.7% to 3.44 million tonnes. Handling of grain also fell by 11.3% to 1.45 million tonnes.
The Port of Gdansk is a major international transportation hub situated in the central part of the southern Baltic coast. The port handles liquid bulk / bulk cargoes (crude oil, petroleum products, coal, metal ores) and provides a number of line services linking it with the ports of the Baltic Sea and Western Europe (primarily ferry, container and Ro-Ro lines). In 2014, freight throughput at the port totaled 32,277,558 tonnes.
