The design of conceptually new diesel-electric submarine of new generation, Project Kalina, is being developed in Russia, IAA PortNews correspondent cites RF Navy's Deputy Commander-in-Chief Vice Admiral Alexander Fedotenkov as telling journalists.
According to him, the new submarine will combine the best characteristics of Project 636 (Varshavyanka) and Project 677 (Lada) submarines.
“It is an absolutely new project,” the official said.
