Vroon has taken delivery of Gloucester Express. The vessel was handed over to Vroon during a short ceremony held on 15 January 2016 at COSCO Guangdong Shipyard, P.R. China.
Gloucester Express is the fifth in a line of seven livestock carriers being built for Vroon at this Shipyard. The final two vessels, Greyman Express and Gudali Express, are scheduled to join the fleet later in 2016.
These revolutionary vessels are “next‑generation” livestock carriers, fitted with advanced animal-welfare facilities exceeding Australian (AMSA) regulations. They incorporate a revolutionary bow design that ensures maximum comfort for cargo and crew, while maintaining high speeds. Optimal pen arrangements guarantee smooth loading and discharging, whilst providing all livestock with easy access to water and fodder. The innovative bow design will also assist in achieving fuel savings. The vessels boast a cargo capacity of approximately 4,600m2, with a cruising range of around 18,000 NM.
Gloucester Express left the Shipyard yesterday, at the start of her journey to Australia where she will enter into a period charter.
