Zvezdochka Shiyard launches domestically produced 500 kW thrusters

Ship Repair Centre Zvezdochka (Zvezdochka Shipyard, part of United Shipbuilding Corp.) in line with the import substitution programme of Russian Government has designed and manufactured a PU130/5 series thruster, the shipbuilding company said.

The first in-house developed thruster was shipped this month to the Customer Nevsky Shipyard LLC to be installed on the MR tanker Akademik Parshin (Project 23130) under construction at the Shlisselburg based shipyard.

Currently Zvezdochka Shipyard is manufacturing the series thrusters for for ships being built at Admiralty Shipyards and Yaroslavl Shipyard.
Also, Zvezdochka Shipyard's Propulsion Design & Production Department is developing design of thrusters and rudder propellers with power ranging 500 kW to 9 MW.

"By 2020, the Ship Repair Centre Zvezdochka will be able to meet the needs of domestic shipyards for thrusters and rudder propellers of mechanical type virtually for the entire range (of ships), from the tug to the icebreaker", the company said.

Severodvinsk, Russia based Shipbuilding Centre ‘Zvezdochka’ is a diversified shipbuilding enterprise. The shipyard has two covered slipways, 7 shipbuilding yards, specializing in repair and construction of vessels with a launching weight of up to 18,000 tonnes. The firm is majority owned by Northern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Centre, part of JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation.
