In January 2016, the port of Klaipeda (Lithuania) handled 3.16 mln t of cargo (+5.1%, year-on-year) including 1.11 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+35.5%), 1,845.21 t of general cargo (-5.2%) and 1.19 mln t of loose dry cargo (-6.4%).
Klaipeda State Seaport is the northernmost ice–free port on the Eastern coast of the Baltic Sea. It is the most important and biggest Lithuanian transport hub, connecting sea, land and railway routes from East to West. The port’s throughput (including Butinge terminal) climbed by 9% to 38.44 mln t in 2015.
