In the course of the unannounced combat readiness inspection of the Southern MD troops, two ship groupings of the Caspian Flotilla left their home bases in order to take part in the naval exercise, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
More than 20 warships and supply vessels, including Dagestan missile ship, Grad Sviyazhsk, Uglich and Veliky Ustug small missile ships, will be involved in the exercise.
Crews of missile and artillery ships will perform a complex of combat firings engaging naval, coastal and aerial targets.
Mine-sweeping groups will provide mine-clearance support to the ship groupings.
Bilateral naval exercise with participation of tactic ship groupings and Southern MD aviation will be the final stage of the sortie.
A 1,500 nautical mile range will be closed for civil shipping in order to provide safety in the period of the exercise.
