Rostov Port JSC has taken the leading position in the stevedore market of the Azov-Don Basin with its throughput of 1,940,100 t in 2015, up 56.5% from 1,239,300 t in 2014. The port’s proceeds in 2015 surged by 91.7%, year-on-year.
Transshipment of export cargo accounts for the bulk of the port’s cargo turnover – 58.04%. Imports make 28.44% with coastal trade cargo and cooperated cargo accounting for 13.92%.
Exports include coal – 57.8%, agricultural goods – 23.1%, ferrous metal scrap – 13.5%, other cargoes – 5.6%. Imports include feldspar – 51.9%, microcalcite – 14.3%, soda – 14%, other cargoes – 19.8%.
In 2015, the port handled 653 vessels flying both Russian and foreign flags, which is 69.2% more as compared with 386 vessels handled in 2014. Turnover of railcars increased by 10%, year-on-year, from 8,287 rail cars in 2014 to 9,105 railcars in 2015.
The Rostov Port JSC operates the largest port in the water area of Rostov-on-Don. The Port has 18 powered freight docks of a 2,649 m extent, equipped with 33 frame cranes of up to 27.5 t in capacity, as well as mobile handling equipment manufactured by FUCHS and LIEBHERR. 17 vessels of up to 5,000 t in capacity and up to 4 m in draught can be simultaneously served at the port.
