In January 2016, Port of Gdansk (Poland) handled 3,010,498 t of cargo (+20%, year-on-year), the stevedoring company says.
Transshipment of grain fell by 15.5% to 125,427 t, transshipment of general cargo and timber climbed by 10.1% to 991,158 t, other bulk cargo (aggregates, sulphur, ore) – up 2.4 times to 367,689 t, coal – up 2.9 times to 487,697 t, liquid fuel – down 11.35% to 1,038,527 t.
The port of Gdansk is a major international transportation hub situated in the central part of the southern Baltic coast. Besides handling bulk cargoes (oil, coal, metal, ores) the port provides a number of line services linking it with the ports of the Baltic Sea and Western Europe (primarily ferry, construction and ro-ro lines). In 2015, the port handled 35.91 mln t of cargo.
