Following publication of the 2016 list by the Swedish trade journal Intelligent Logistik, Gothenburg has emerged as the best logistics location in Sweden for the 15th year in succession, the Port of Gothenburg said in its press release.
"Being named once again the best logistics location in Sweden is further proof that the Port of Gothenburg and other logistics operators in the region are working along the right lines," said Magnus Kårestedt, Port of Gothenburg chief executive.
The Intelligent Logistik ranking list is based on geographical location, business climate, sustainability in the logistics infrastructure, establishment of logistics facilities, workforce availability, academic education, and price and availability of logistics space.
The region's success in the rankings can be attributed for the most part to the Port of Gothenburg, which is the largest import/export gateway in Scandinavia with direct deep-sea services, extensive European traffic and some 25 rail shuttles for freight transport to locations throughout Sweden and Norway.
Intelligent Logistik also highlights the logistics properties that are being constructed close to the port on Hisingen. Further strengths include the environmental focus, a highly efficient transport infrastructure and cutting-edge course programmes and logistics research at Chalmers University of Technology and the Gothenburg School of Business, Economics and Law.
Gothenburg topped the list with a score of 94. In second place was the Örebro Region, which scored 87, and in third place with a score of 86 was the Östgöta Region.
Followed by many, this well-known list of the best logistics locations in Sweden has been published since 2001. For the first three years it was published by the trade journal Inköp och Logistik before being taken over by Intelligent Logistik.
