USC set to invest RUB 1.5 bln in modernization of Sevastopol shipyard in 2016 (photo)

United Shipbuilding Corporation is going to invest some RUB 7 bln till 2020 into modernization and technical re-equipment of Sevastopol Marine Plant named after S. Ordzhonikidze (Sevmorzavod) including RUB 1.5 bln to be allocated this year, press center of Sevastopol Government cites Aleksandr Yurjev, Director of the shipyard.

When reporting on the Shipyard’s results in 2015 at the meeting of municipal government, Aleksandr Yurjev said that Sevmorzavod and Zvezdochka Shipyard (United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC) signed a long-term agreement for the lease of major production facilities for 49 years. 

“The first step has been made to revive the shipyard. Agreements confirmed by this document will ensure full-scale load of Sevmorzavod with ship repair and shipbuilding works. Both civil and military projects are supposed,” said Aleksandr Yurjev. 

Sevastopol Marine Plant named after S. Ordzhonikidze (Sevmorzavod) was founded in 1783. The Government of Sevastopol and the United Shipbuilding Corporation on March 30, 2015 signed a Memorandum of Agreement for cooperation to revive the company. The branch of Zvezdochka Shipyard operates in Sevastopol specializing in shipbuilding, ship repair, in manufacture of onboard equipment / machinery and metal fabrication.
