Vyborg Shipyard (part of United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC) and Nord-Piligrim LLC have signed a cooperation agreement. According to the shipyard’s press center, the company is going to build a freezing trawler of new generation for operation in the North Atlantic regions.
In the beginning of 2016 Vyborg Shipyard and Arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet (ATF) signed a cooperation agreement on building the series of four medium-size freezing trawlers of Project ST-116 XL.
“RF Government is currently developing a draught law to encourage renovation of Russia’s fishing fleet. The law focuses on placing the orders with Russian shipyards. Fishing companies having their ships built at domestic shipyards will be provided with additional fishing quotas. The bill is to be developed in February-March 2016, therefore fishing companies have started preparing and looking for potential partners. Russia has few shipyards able to build fishing ships. Vyborg Shipyard is among them,” commented Aleksandr Solovyov, Director General of Vyborg Shipyard.
Vyborg Shipyard (part of state-owned United Shipbuilding Corporation from 2012) is one of the largest shipbuilding companies of the North-Western Region of Russia with over 60-years’ experience in shipbuilding. Since its inception in 1948 the shipbuilding company has built more than 200 different vessels with a total displacement of 1,550,000 tonnes.
United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC OJSC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises 60 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus). Currently, USC consolidates about 80% of the domestic shipbuilding complex. The Russian market is the main focus of the state corporation though it also exports its products to 20 countries worldwide.
Nord-Piligrim LLC (Murmansk) is a fishing company established in 1995. The company’s fleet unmbers three fishing ships.
