Governmental decision is required on extension of state contracts for LK-25 icebreakers, Victor Olersky says
Completion of two large diesel-electric icebreakers (LK-25) is postponed due to essential rouble devaluation and other reasons. “The first 25 MW icebreaker which was to be built in 2015 will be delivered 2 – 2.5 years later”, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Victor Olersky, Deputy Transport Minister of the Russian Federation, as saying at the meeting of the State Commission for Arctic Development held in Murmansk on March 9, 2016.
“A Governmental decision on extension of state contracts is required to prevent contractual claims. Billions-large fines will not facilitate contract implementation,” emphasized Victor Olersky .
He reminded that almost all Russian ports in the Arctic basin require icebreakers.
The third serial 16MW icebreaker is to be delivered to Rosmorrechflot in late 2016.
