On March 25, 2016, Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard (United Shipbuilding Corporation) launched the Balt Flot 11, tanker of Project RST-27 built for BF Tanker, says the shipyard’s press center.
When outfitting is completed, the tanker will undergo sea trials scheduled for May 2016.
The tanker’s sea / river DWT is 6,980 /5,400 tonnes.
According to Sergei Chaplygin, Chairman of BF Tanker BoD, tankers of Project RST-27 is a new type of vessels allowing for round-the-year sea and river operation. The Company is set to expand the range of cargoes. It is going to carry crude oil and oil products including petrols, the statement says.
In September 2015 BF Tanker LLC signed the contracts for construction of 7 sea/river type tankers at Krasnoye Sormovo (United Shipbuilding Corporation) and Okskaya Shipyard (UCLH). The Company will get three RST-54 tankers (combination carriers) and four RST-27 tankers. Okskaya Shipyard will build 5 vessels (two RST-27 tankers and three RST-54 tankers), Krasnoye Sormovo - two RST-27 tankers. So, the Company’s own fleet will number 10 ships this year. BF Tanker also deploys chartered vessels.
Krasnoye Sormovo OJSC is one of Russia's oldest shipyards. It was founded in 1849. In 2011, it entered the United Shipbuilding Corporation. The shipyard is Russia’s leader in construction of civil river and sea-and-river going vessels. Some of Krasnoye Sormovo ships are in the list of Significant Ships of RINA (Royal Institution of Naval Architects).
United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC OJSC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises 60 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus). Currently, USC consolidates about 80% of the domestic shipbuilding complex. The Russian market is the main focus of the state corporation though it also exports its products to 20 countries worldwide.
