New terminal of EVRAZ NMTP integrates 2 transshipment facilities at the Cape of Astafyev (photo)
EVRAZ NMTP (Nakhodka Trade Sea Port) says it now has a new multi-purpose cargo terminal which has integrated transshipment facilities No 4 and No 5 located at the Cape of Astafyev. The new terminal handles coal, coke, cast iron and products of EVRAZ iron and steel works.
The port authorities believe the integration can help intensify handling of vessels carrying rolled metal.
“We have seen the effect from the first days of new terminal operation, - comments Vyacheslav Sarayev, Managing Director of EVRAZ NMTP. – Loading of rolled metal has increased considerably. We expect further improvement of efficiency” the statement says.
The year of 2015 saw the integration of facilities No 1 and No 3 into a coal terminal. The merger allowed for a 10-pct increase of efficiency with a record high unloading of 148 wagons per shift and loading of vessels – 66,000 t of cargo per day.
There are two large terminals at the port now. Each of them has 8 berths and a length of about 2 km.
EVRAZ NMTP (Nakhodka Trade Sea Port) is one of the largest stevedoring companies in the Far East of Russia. The port is located on the Eastern section of Peter the Great Gulf, in Nakhodka Bay. The port is connected to all points of the Eurasian continent and the Trans-Siberian Railway, assisting in both directions in the flow of goods between Asia and Europe. The port has a daily capacity to unload up to 500 rail wagons containing various cargoes. In addition, 300,000 square meters of warehousing premises are located at the port. . In 2015, the company handled over 9.2 mln t of cargo.
EVRAZ NMTP has 16 bulk berths and 1 auxiliary berth for the port’s own fleet with a total berth length of 3.5 km. All berths are universal and can receive ships with drafts of up to 11 m, with lengths of up to 230 m, and with widths of up to 32 m. Today the port has the ability to moor 15 vessels simultaneously, and can handle more than 1,500 large ships annually.
