Volga Shipping Company says it opened cargo navigation on Lower Volga on March 30, 2016.
The Company’s two vessels of Volga-Don class have passed the locks of the Volga HPP. The vessels to be loaded with sulphur at port Buzan (Astrakhan Region).
Volga Shipping Company says 30 cargo ships will be deployed for operation on the Lower Volga in April 2016.
Opening of the navigation period on the Upper Volga is scheduled for late April.
Volga Shipping OJSC is one of the biggest transport companies in Russia. It was founded in 1843. The company transports cargoes along rivers and lakes of the country. In 2015, Volga Shipping carried 5.6 mln t of cargo.
