MSC restructures Amberjack Service in partnership with Maersk

To ensure optimum efficiency, MSC’s Everglades service has been renamed ‘Amberjack’ and restructured in partnership with Maersk to include a call at the Port of New York and New Jersey.

The Amberjack service calls Qingdao, Shanghai, Xingang, and Busan through the Panama Canal to Savanah before reaching the Port of New York and New Jersey. From there, it continues to Charleston and Jacksonville.

This change will be in effect from the first week of May 2016 for all ships departing from Asia.

The Amberjack service will continue to enjoy support from the America and Empire services currently in operation. At present, MSC provides four weekly services between Asia and the East Coast of the United States.

Amberjack represents the first major East-West service string from the 2M partnership (MSC/Maersk) that utilizes the new Panama Canal.

The first ship to call at the Port of New York and New Jersey is scheduled to arrive in early June.

Vessels in this service will be in the 4500teu range and therefore not require new locks transit.
