Krylov State Research Center found ice protection solution for offshore oil & gas facilities (photo)

Krylov State Research Center says the expedition to the offshore ice-resistant fixed platform Prirazlomnaya let the Research Center specialists find a solution ensuring 100-pct efficiency of ice protection.

The work was performed in the framework of the contract with Gazpromneft Shelf focused on ensuring ice protection for safe and smooth operation of offshore oil & gas facilities.

Unique research work was carried out during the expedition at the Prirazlomnaya rig and in the area of ice hummock formation.

“The newly developed methods are simple and do not require much investments which is quite desirable amid the current economic situation. The results achieved will let ensure ice protection and smooth operation of offshore oil & gas facilities on the Arctic shelf of Russia,” the statement says.
