BMT WBM (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, the leading international maritime design, environmental and engineering consultancy, has announced the appointment of Dr Philip Haines as Managing Director of their Water and Environment Group, the company said in its press release.
For the last 17 years, Phil has played an integral role within BMT, building strong relationships with customers, industry and academia, as well as delivering on a wide range of consulting projects. Over the last ten years, turnover for the Water and Environment Group of BMT has grown from $8m to $20m and it now employs more than 100 staff in Australia and the UK.
BMT’s extensive experience and knowledge is evident in its recent involvement with key engineering and environmental projects in Australia and abroad including: the Brisbane River Catchment flood study, one of the largest and most complex flood study ever conducted; a climate change adaptation plan in the Solomon Islands to support the relocation of a whole community that is at risk due to climate change and sea level rise; and the Aquis Great Barrier Reef Resort, a billion-dollar development where BMT has provided innovative engineering solutions to help address significant water and environmental challenges. BMT is also the developer of the highly regarded TUFLOW suite of hydrodynamic software, used extensively for flood and coastal modelling worldwide.
