EVRAZ Nakhodka Commercial Sea Port (EVRAZ NMTP) between January and April handled 3,4 million tonnes of cargo, which represents a 27% growth on the same period 2015, the stevedore company said.
In April, the terminal operator handled 852,000 tonnes of cargo, or up 38% from the same period a year ago.
"We have consolidated our production units, turning them into two large transhipment terminals, the Coal and Universal ones. We have also created a logistics centre, kind of a distribution hub for cargoes shipped to the port, and besides, created an access for ships to the port's berths,” said Managing Director of EVRAZ NCSP Vyacheslav Sarayev.
He added that since January the port has been operating in partnership with RZD-Logistics company. The cooperation enabled the company to improve the efficiency of logistics and cargo handling operations and reduce costs.
EVRAZ Nakhodka Commercial Sea Port is a major stevedore company operating at the largest Russia’s Far Eastern Port of Nakhodka, located in the eastern Gulf of Peter the Great, in Nakhodka Bay. The port is linked to the Eurasian continent through the Trans-Siberian Railway, serving the Asia-Europe-Asia trade flows. The port is able to handle up to 500 rail cars a day. Warehousing facilities area is 300,000 m2. In 2015, throughput at the terminals was more than 9,2 million tonnes.
JSC EVRAZ NCSP operates on 15 cargo berths and one facility for handling the port’s workboats, of total length of 3.5 km, which can accommodate ships with length of 230m, breadth of 32m and draft of 11 m. Currently, at least 15 ships are able dock at the port’s berths simultaneously and the port can receive more than 1,500 large vessels a year.
