Arctia says its icebreakers ended the Baltic icebreaking season 2015-2016 on Saturday, May 7th 2016, when icebreaker Kontio returned from the Bay of Bothnia to the icebreaker base in Katajanokka, Helsinki. Kontio’s sister vessel Otso returned to Rauma already on May 4th as ice conditions got significantly easier in the Bay of Bothnia.
“Although we didn’t witness a particularly harsh winter, there was plenty of work for icebreakers especially in the demanding conditions of the Bothnian Bay. Both our proficient crews and our partners deserve thanks for a good season”, sums up Tom Ekegren, Arctia Group’s Senior Vice President for icebreaking.
