In January-April 2016, Odessa Commercial Sea Port handled 8,369,800 t of cargo (-2%, year-on-year), the port’s statistics says.
Transshipment of dry cargo continue growing (+14.3%, year-on-year) to 7,763,000 t. Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo totaled 606,800 against 1,745,800 in Jan-Apr'16.
Almost all sectors of dry cargo transshipment showed the increase: grain – 22.7%, containers – up 469,000 t or 27.1% (+ 30,000 TEUs or 24.1%); ferrous and non-ferrous metal – 11.3%); citruses and bananas – 92.2%.
Transshipment of ore totaled 3,100 t (-98.8 % against the 4-month period of the previous year). Amid general decrease in transshipment of liquid bulk cargo the volumes of vegetable oil more than doubled from 28,600 to 62,700 t.
Absolute leaders among stevedoring companies in terms of tonnage are Brooklyn-Kyiv Ltd – 1,738,400 t (grain and metal) and SC HPC Ukraina – 1,340,400 t (containers).
